No you try it again. You cannot knock Shiro down. Post screenshots with him knocked down if you can.

This is not saying ritualists are worthless, to assume that is missing the point.

Parties tend to be (right or wrong) very closed minded about the party composition. Three man ranger trapper groups in UW won't take a rit. 5 man Oro farming runs won't take a rit. 55 monk/SS necro farming runs won't take a rit. Tomb B/P parties won't take a rit. 12v12 teams normally won't take a rit. I could go on and on, but the point is made.

But just about every single party needs a necro for some reason or another. The trapper UW runs are about the only exception - but they are loners anyway.

Shrug, it's my opinion. I don't particularly like rits (or assasins for that matter) but that's besides the point.

Actually you'll find your mistaken about 12v12 , A ritualist can easly help EVERYONE on your side, (Union, shelter, Displacement, Recuperation, Life, and so forth, these affect everyone) wheras a monk only has handy access to the 3 other people in his team, not to mention people dont run straight for the ritualist, but they will Immediatly go for that monk

In A head on 12V12 at a choke point, from my experiance the team with a ritualist & Spirits ALWAYS wins, why? because the ritualist can throw Sheilding hands, Protective spirit, +3 Pips of regen, and 150 point "Heal Partys" on Every single one of the 12 players, AND the AI, And everybody knows that protecting Damage is infinitly better than healing Damage.- oh, did i mention he can do all of this while being a significant distance from battle? (And on maps such as saltspray, there is almost a 12v12 at the centre)

Tbh i think the 55/Trapping/B/P Argument is one of the Weakest ive seen

1: the amount of UW/FoW/Tombs/SF Teams Isnt anywhere near the amount of teams doing the missions, and theres still plenty of people going in the kurzic and luxon elite missions as well (and with 12 people in a party, your making your life MUCH harder without at least one ritualist, for reasons stated above)

2: There are statistically less ritualists in the game than other classes, while i cannot be certain of exact numbers, there are certainly more warriors/Necros/Eles than Ritualists in the game. A farming group wont take a ritualist because ritualist isnt always around, If there were more about then a stratergy with them in the picture would be viable, no group wants to make a group then spend an hour finding a ritualist.

3: People are afraid of Change, this is the main reason there is so much dislike the ritualist and assassin, theres nothign wrong with them fundamentally, but they dont fit into any of the cookie cutters they are used to, people are stupid, stupid people dont like change, simple as. (If a necro didnt have the MM and SS Cookie cutters, nobody would take them as they wouldnt know what they do)

However rits and farming is changing, me and my guildies ran B/P with:

5 Rangers
2 Necro
1 Ritualist

overall it was so much easyer to keep alive it wasnt funny, almost all deaths in there are caused by a necro/Ranger getting ganked for 100+ damage a hit by insanitys, with shelter, nobody was taking more than 10% health, this combines with the fact a ritualist could Heal Effectivly AND Prot. now i hear you say a monk can prot and heal at the same time, yes he can, but if he wants to make use of that DF bonus (only reason a monk can heal better than a rit on a per heal basis, Rit heals have a significant bonus on the base heal) he needs X in Healing, X in Prot, X in Divine favor, and X in Energy management, oops, spread a little thin

Not to mention the prot monk throws on an enchant and the poor unfortunate soul gets beaten senseless by all the mesmers ripping it off him

Throw Weapon of Warding on them, Cant be ripped, Lasts 11 Seconds (giving you more time to heal other members before having to recast)

so in tombs Taking a Restoration Rit > Taking a Monk

Maybe your right now that ritualists and assassins wont get taken now, but give it time

I would say Warriors becuase you will aways need them or maybe 1 ,Ele,Necromancers depending on the mission usually I would prefer blood or curses,Rangers with interrupts and traps but don't have early in proph. maybe just for pulling.I would go with Mesmer for sutdown.I am not sure about the 2 new profs as they are new but I would probably go with Ritualist in restoration. The Assassin I am not sure yet.The Assassin is more like the Mesmer was in proph. not the popular in pve groups but more so in pvp.

Umm how about the fact that UW/FoW is pretty much useless for cash/ietms? Zodiacs are the new "in" things (and look waaaay better than the crap in UW/FoW) and believe me, Rits are pretty awesome there.

Everyone saying mesmers are least wanted are wrong. I have been recieving a load of blind invites for my mesmer. My assasin on the other hand is never wanted

thats a bit long - took me around 30 secs to kill him in a PUG maybe less and NO KD'S.

(on topic)

after monks, i would say necros due to their very versitile builds. And then warrior/rits.

I've only gotten one blind invite on my Mesmer and I've beaten every mission in Cantha. That one time I got a blind invite was when there was 10 people in the town.

Mesmers are the least wanted profession in the game, there's no argueing about that. Good luck at trying to join a group in places like SF, UW and FOW.

Each time I'm doing a mission I always grab the henchmen when the mission is do able with the retarded bots or i'll form my own team, cause I know no one wants to play with the "useless" mesmer.

I'll agree with Kalt that I have never received a blind invite on mesmer... or even rarely seen a 7/8 group spamming "GLF Mesmer and than we go."

Beyond monks, I think that it is whatever class is in least supply... if you are in a district lacking tanks, than you'll see 2 groups with 6/8 or 7/8 spamming for tanks. If Necros are in short supply you'll see groups asking for MM or SS Necros. Elementalists and Rangers fall into the same group, if they are in short supply, you'll see groups standing in line for them. Ritualists will become more popular as they're are learned by the players out there for their strengths. Right now... Assassins... yeah well. I have yet to see a group looking for more Assassins.

Additionally, this holds true in PVE only. In PvP there is quite a demand for all the classes. Though Assassins seem to be coming up short in that area as well, right now. Sure that will change when somebody spits out an AWay build.

PvE: Necro, Ele, Warrior, Ritualist, Ranger, Mesmer, Assassin (in that order)
PvP: Mesmer, Warrior/Thumper, Ele, Necro. i've never seen any "LF Rit" or "LF sin" in team arenas. ever.

My ranking, talking only PVE here:

Specifically sought by pugs all the time:
Monk
Necro
Elementalist
Warrior
Rarely asked for but usually taken as filler:
Ritualist
Ranger
Mesmer
Never asked for and usually not taken:
Assassin

imo its either a res rit, or a MM (in factions), and sometimes a good nuker (btw ppl a nuker is a E/ME not any other combination)....

Ritualists Can Nuke Just as effectivly (Arguably More Effectivly) Than An Ele, theres a thread in the Rit Sub-section

I don't agree. Getting A warrior into a group is easy as hell. Getting YOUR warrior into a group... thats another thing entirely. There are just too many, most end up forming there own sub-par groups. Personally i just change profession... hence why i haven't been to FoW on my Warrior or Ele for a very long time...

I'd pick a Mesmer over an Assassin to go FoW anyday of the week. Anything that an Assassin can do to a caster can be healed, anything a mesmer can do to a caster is screwing them over till they turn blue. Its just 1 of those cases where Power Block > Anything. If your team can't kill a monk with no healing in 16 seconds, they just suck. Last time i took her there i was getting complements on my interrupting Followed by missing 4 spells in a row... /doh

Anyway back to the point... i'd say its an Ele or Necro. Warriors get into every group but there are just too many. Necros 75% of them are in a 55 Duo team or want to be. Theres always space in a team for SS/BR necro and a Nuker ele and there aren't too many of them. I always laugh though when i see an ele using Echo for Meteor Shower.

I would have to say its weird that my best PUG recently contained 2 mesmers in it that completely refused to allow anything to be cast or just instantly shattered it (Hexes that is). People really do underestimate the power of interrupts.
